City pushes for P1.19-B infra projects

THE Zamboanga City Government, through the City Engineer’s Office, is pursuing the implementation of 279 infrastructure projects worth P1.19 billion in Zamboanga City.

City Engineer Luis Vicente Despalo said the bulk of the projects are new roads, slope and shoreline protections the funding of which form part of the 2013 appropriation of the City Government.

Despalo, in his report to Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, stated that the ongoing projects include the construction and rehabilitation of 12 school buildings, six health centers, eight barangay halls, 11 daycare centers, 64 road projects, six bridges and 37 slope and shoreline protections.


Despalo said that they have completed last year a total of 425 various projects worth P10.6 million.

These projects include 20 new school buildings, 12 health centers, 80 new structure to include centers for the elderly and 104 road projects, according to Despalo.

He said that they have also implemented by administration 27 projects with a total appropriation of P77.48 million.

He said that all in all, a total of P2.277 billion was appropriated for the year 2013 with 838 infrastructure projects. (Bong Garcia)
