FOUR fishermen were killed while another was wounded in an ambush in the hinterlands of Basilan province, the police reported Tuesday.

The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. Monday in Barangay Bohelebbung, Tipo-Tipo town.

Senior Police Officer 1 Ben Naser Saha, the investigator of the case, identified the fatalities as Hussin Piskalin, Wahid Piskalin, and Kasayun Piskalin.

Saha said the fourth fatality was unidentified as well as the other companion of the victims who was wounded in the ambush.

The victims, who belong to the so-called Mongon group, were onboard motorcycles on the way home coming from a fishing venture when they were waylaid by a group of unidentified gunmen, the police said.

Investigation continues to determine the identities of the killers and their motives, the police added.
