Monday, February 17, 2014
THE local Federation of Barangay Kagawads de Zamboanga (Febarkaza) is set to elect its new set of officers on or before the end of this month, a federation official said.
Febarkaza outgoing president Arturo Onrubia said the election is through nomination and balloting for a position, adding that whoever among the nominees gets the highest votes win.
He said among the officers they will elect this year is a new federation president, three vice-presidents (east coast, west coast and central), secretary, treasurer, auditor, public relations officer, and four members of the Board of Directors.
Onrubia said that a total of 686 kagawads (councilmen) coming from Zamboanga City’s 98 villages will cast their votes to elect the new set of officers who will serve for three years corresponding to their term of office as barangay councilman.
Onrubia said he is not seeking re-election since his last term of office as barangay councilman ended last year. He ran for city councilor but lost in the May 13, 2013 elections. (Bong Garcia)
