AN AMERICAN national and a policeman died while a government employee was wounded in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police said.
Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Ariel Huesca said the accident happened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Polo, Dapitan City.
Huesca identified the fatalities as Stephen Orr, 60, of Los Angeles, USA, and Senior Police Officer 1 Armand Dalman, 42, of Sibutad, Zamboanga del Norte.
Orr is temporarily staying in Barangay Banonong, Dapitan City.
Wounded was Dalman's wife, Nora, an employee of the Municipal Government of Sibutad, Zamboanga del Norte.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred when Orr allegedly encroached on the other lane while driving a motorcycle traveling at high speed from Dapitan City to Dipolog City, while the Dalman couple was aboard a motorcycle traveling on the opposite direction.
Huesca said the victims were thrown off the road due to the impact of the collision. They were rushed to the Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial Hospital in Dapitan City but the American national and the policeman died.
Dalman’s wife, who suffered cuts and a fractured arm, was admitted for treatment.
