1 killed in Baliwasan gun attack

A WORKER of a fish broker was killed while a student was wounded on two separate gun attacks in Zamboanga City, the police said Saturday.

Killed was Hussine Nama, a resident of Lower Calarian village, and Effraim Jamilon, 19, of Tugbungan village.

Nama was killed by unidentified gunman shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday in the vicinity of a private wharf in the village of Baliwasan.


Police Station chief Diomarie Albarico said that the victim was walking from the private wharf when shot upon reaching the main road.

Meanwhile, Police Station 6 commander Inspector Felixberto Martinez said Jamilon, an Engineering student of Universidad de Zamboanga, was shot and wounded around 9:30 p.m. Friday at Barigon Bridge in the village of Tugbungan.

Martinez said investigation showed the victim was walking across the bridge when allegedly shot by Arnel Maut, a village watchman.

The victim was rushed to the hospital while the suspect fled and went into hiding, Martinez added. (Bong Garcia)
