THREE fishermen were arrested in an anti-illegal fishing campaign in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said Sunday.

Zamboanga Sibugay Police Director Robert Roy Bahian identified the arrested fishermen as Imlani Sabdani, Miing Saidal and Abdulgani Julayli, all residents of Sitio Lugay-Lugay in the village of Naga-Naga, Alicia.

Bahian said they were nabbed around 9:30 a.m. Saturday off Litayon village by joint elements of Alicia Municipal Police Station and Alicia Fishery Law Enforcement Team.

Bahian said the law enforcement team were conducting patrol when they chanced upon the three fishermen illegally fishing using "tapsay."

Confiscated from their possession were a motorized banca, another banca without engine, and two pairs of fine mesh nets, Bahian said.

He said the three fishermen violated Municipal Ordinance Number 67 of Alicia town.
