ONE died while a militiaman was wounded in two separate gun attacks in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said Sunday.

Slain was Florante Cristobal, 31, of Lower Tungawagn, Tungawan town, while wounded was Isabelo Dedasi, 47, a militiaman of Compostela village, Buug municipality.

Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca said Cristobal was killed around 10:52 p.m. Friday at Purok 4 in the village of Lower Tungawan.

Investigation disclosed that Cristobal was playing domino together with five of his friends at the residence of Angela Valiente when gun fire suddenly rang in the vicinity.

Huesca said the group scampered for safety except for Cristobal, who was fatally hit in the chest, causing his instantaneous death.

Dedasi, on the other hand, was shot by an unidentified gunman around 9 p.m. Friday along the road at Purok Mangga, Barangay Compostela, Buug.

Huesca said that according to Compostela village councilman Carlito Bansalao, they were watching television when they heard gunshots and saw a man lying wounded on the road.

Both cases are being investigated to establish the identities of the gunmen, said the police.
