A GOVERNMENT auditor was killed while her companion escaped unscathed in a gun attack in this southern port city, the police reported Friday.
Police Station 11 commander Superintendent Diomarie Albarico said the incident took place around 6:30 p.m. Thursday in front of the Sta. Cruz Commercial Complex, this city.
Albarico identified the victim as Ester Galaroza, 54, a resident of Guiwan, this city and the auditor of Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.
Albarico said investigation showed that Galaroza was driving her vehicle on the way home with her officemate, Renella Abella, as her passenger when shot by one of two men riding-tandem on a motorcycle that got abreast as they approached the traffic light at the intersection of Governor Camins and Veterans Avenues.
They just arrived in this city coming from Isabela City, Basilan province.
Galaroza expired at the hospital while Abella, 52, was unscathed, according to Albarico.
He said the motive of the incident is possibly worked related.
A thorough investigation is being conducted aimed to establish the identities of the suspects, he said.
