Kidnap suspect falls

COMBINED police and military forces have arrested one of the 11 most wanted persons in Zamboanga Peninsula in an east coast village of Zamboanga City.

Zamboanga City Public Safety Company commander Superintendent William Gadayan identified the arrested fugitive as Jun Jalal Akilan.

Gadayan said that Akilan was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Thursday at his house in the village of Talabaan.


Gadayan said Akilan has a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention for his alleged involvement in kidnapping incidents in this city.

Confiscated from the possession of Akilan, who tried but failed to escape when he sensed the arrival of the lawmen, was a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition.

Three other people namely Abduljana Taib, Hajas Goram and Saida Akilan who were at the house of Akila during his arrest were invited for questioning, he said. (Bong Garcia)
