DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (Dole) Regional Director Sisinio Cano announced that the department has allocated P19 million for the implementation of the Government Internship Program (GIP) in the Zamboanga Peninsula this year.

Cano said the GIP implemented through Dole is aimed to provide employment opportunity to jobless individuals including high school graduates and those without work experience.

Cano said that a total of 680 personnel will be hired through the program to work for a period of six months with a daily salary of P210.

Cano said they will be also covered by the Government Service Insurance System.

Those who possess the qualification may apply starting next month at the Dole regional office or at the field offices in the provinces, Cano said.

He said some those who will be hired will be given field assignments to monitor the programs implemented by the agency while the rest will be assigned at the regional and field offices. (Bong Garcia)
