A COUPLE was shot and robbed of P100,000 by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in a highway robbery in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Tuesday.

The Zamboanga del Norte Police Office reported that the incident took place around 2:25 p.m. Monday in the boundary of Salug and Liloy towns, Zamboanga del Norte.

The police identified the couple victims as Ceriaco Bantiad, 57, and his wife, Armi, 56. Both suffered gunshot wounds and were brought to the hospital.

Investigation showed that Bantiad was driving a delivery truck of Fresh Harvest Farm owned by Franklin Lim coming from Dipolog City to Liloy town when the suspects chased and shot them, the police said.

Bantiad was forced to stop the truck after he was hit in the left arm. One of the suspects approached them and shot twice his wife in the legs, the police said.

The suspects took the victims' bag containing more or less P100,000, mobile phones and other valuables and fled toward the municipality of Liloy, the police added. (Bong Garcia)
