TWO people, including a Coast Guard employee, were killed while three others were wounded in two separate gun attacks Sunday in Zamboanga City, the police reported.

Slain were Seaman First Class Abdurasid Iskan, 38, and Abukhair Tahir, 22, who expired while under treatment and was declared dead on arrival, respectively. Wounded were Iskan's six-year-old daughter, Sharah; Ismael Johaini, 26; and Husna Sahidjuan.

Police Station 6 commander Chief Inspector Felixberto Martinez said Iskan and his daughter were shot by a lone gunman around 7:15 p.m. Sunday along Don Toribio Street in the village of Tetuan.

Iskan and his daughter have just disembarked from a sports utility vehicle on the way to visit his in-laws when the suspect appeared and repeatedly shot them.

Martinez said the gunman, who was clad in blue jacket, casually walked toward Veterans Avenue, as he fled from the crime scene.

Iskan died while undergoing medical treatment, while his daughter was admitted at a local hospital, Martinez said.

Zamboanga City Police Office's information officer Alexander Mabalot said Tahir was fatally shot around 9:10 p.m. Sunday at Johnston Street in the village of San Jose Gusu.

Tahir was seated on a wooden chair along the road when shot by four gunmen aboard on two motorcycles, Mabalot said, adding that Johaini and Sahidjuan were hit by stray bullets.

Mabalot said Tahir was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, while Johaini and Sahidjuan were hospitalized.

Investigations continue in a bid to unmask the gunmen.
