THE police are eyeing robbery as the motive behind the attempt to kill a fruit trader in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The incident, according to police, took place around 9 p.m. Saturday along the national highway of Purok Tres in Barangay Basalem, Buug municipality.

The victim was identified as Edna Tana, 31, a fruit trader, who survived a gun attack although wounded. She was shot by a lone gunman when she disembarked from a motorcycle driven by her live-in partner.

The police did not identify the victim's live-in partner.

The motorcycle-driving suspect fled, bringing with him the victim's bag containing P29,000, prompting the investigator to think that the motive of the incident was robbery. (Bong Garcia)
