THE police are conducting thorough investigation to identify the lone gunman who strafed the residence of an election officer in Zamboanga del Norte, an official said Wednesday.

Citing a belated report, Zamboanga Peninsula Police Office (ZPPO) spokesman Senior Superintendent Nelson Eucogco said the gunman strafed the house of lawyer Wilfred Jay Balisado located along Padre Gomez Street, Biasong village, Dipolog City.

Balisado is the regional director of the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Zamboanga Peninsula.

The incident took place around 2:45 a.m. Friday, said Eucogco.

No one was either killed or wounded except for the minor damages of one of two vehicles and the compound’s gate, he said.

The motorcycle-riding suspect, clad in black jacket and black pants, as well as wearing baseball cap with mask, appeared in front of Balisado’s residence and opened fire, he Eucogco added.

He said all possible motives are being looked into to indentify the suspect. (Bong Garcia)
