THE government-run Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) is set to be expanded and equipped with more modern equipment, a health official disclosed.
ZCMC Chief of Hospitals, Dr. Romeo Ong, said DOH has allocated P150 million for the construction of a four-storey building this year.
Ong said the building would house ZCMC’s Out-Patient Department (OPD) and other facilities that would further enhance the service to the public.
The ZCMC, aside from the residents of this city, also serves to the health needs of those from the nearby province to include the three autonomous region provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
Ong said the DOH is also providing the ZCMC four sets of operating room lights, seven operating tables, three anesthesia machines, and 200 beds.
The ZCMC, through the assistance of the City Government, is also set to acquire a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan machine.
Ong received last Wednesday a P70 million check from Mayor Celso Lobregat for the acquisition of the MRI scan machine.
Lobregat said the donation of the fund is a fulfillment of the city government’s commitment to help in modernizing the hospital. (Bong Garcia)
