THE revenue collection of Zamboanga City Government for the first six months of this year has exceeded by P72,018,093.46 compared to the collection of the same period last year, an official announced.

City Treasurer Soledad Li announced they have collected P859,653,126.49 revenues for the first six months of this year, which was higher by P72,018,093.46 compared to the collection of P787,635,033.03 of the same period in 2013.

Li attributed the increase in revenue collection to the awareness of the public on their obligations to pay taxes to the government.

Li said the collection was derived from the following taxes: business taxes; real property taxes; and amusement taxes.

The amusement taxes were generated from this city’s parks such as at the Paseo del Mar, Jardin Maria Clara, and Plaza del Pilar.

Meanwhile, the city government has set a target revenue collection goal of P2,360,791,342 for 2014.

Li said they are optimistic to be able to meet this year’s target. (Bong Garcia)
