City processes 8,449 biz applications

THE local government through the City Permits and Licensing Division (CPLD) has processed 8,449 businesses applications since January this year, an official announced.

CPLD head Benjie Barredo said that 7,731 of the 8,449 were renewal of business permits while the remaining 718 were new business applications.

Barredo noted that the most common type of permits they processed were for food businesses, groceries and general merchandize.


Barredo said several businessmen venture to food business as the return of investment is faster compared to other businesses.

The CPLD is targeting to register at least 10,000 businesses for this year.

Meanwhile, Barredo has advised owners of business establishments to comply with the rules and regulations stipulated in the business permits.

He said penalties will be slapped against violators and repeated violations may lead to the closure of the business establish. (Bong Garcia)
