A WOMAN was charged in court and placed behind bars after she allegedly beaten and slapped a boy with slippers in a remote village of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Saturday.

Charged for violation of Republic Act 7610 otherwise known as Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act was Faith Tamala, 22, a resident of Lamao village, Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.

The Zamboanga del Norte Police Office (ZDNPO) reported that the case against Tamala stemmed from the complaint filed by Rumel Barote, 13, of Dela Paz village, Liloy town.

The police said that Barote appeared around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at the police headquarters and reported that he was allegedly beaten and slapped with the use of slippers by Tamala.

Investigation showed that prior to the incident, the victim and Tamala’s younger brother, Francis, had a heated argument, the police said.

The suspect intervened and beat and slapped the victim several times using her slipper hitting the face and different parts of the body which resulted to injuries, the police said.

The suspect, who was arrested, was formally charged in Court Friday afternoon for violation of section 10 (a) of R.A. 7610, the police said.

The suspect is still under the custody of Liloy Police Station for proper disposition, the police reported. – Bong Garcia
