Riding-in-tandem strikes anew in Calbayog-A A +A

CALBAYOG CITY, Samar -- Another fatal shooting in broad daylight by riding-in-tandem left two people dead on Thursday morning here.
Jovento A. Arcayos, 43, and Danilo D. Tubaña, 37, both residents of Catarman, Northern Samar, died on the spot after unidentified riding-in-tandem gunmen fired at them around 07:45 a.m. along the diversion road in Purok 4, Barangay Bacagay.
Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the body and head. The victims were sales supervisors of Pinoy Chicken Corp. in Barangay Solsogon, Sta. Margarita, Samar.
According to police report, the suspects took a black belt bag allegedly containing P500,000 after they shot the victims. The gunmen used a black XRM getaway motorcycle.
Scene of the Crime Operatives found six cartridge cases, one deformed fired cartridge case, and two fired slugs from an undetermined firearm.
Police manhunt has been set up to capture the gunmen.
The incident occurred just weeks after the Calbayog City Police Station headed by officer-in-charge Chief Superintendent Glenn O. Cinco formed a “Bantay Kalinaw” task force to investigate the series of fatal shooting incidents in Calbayog City.
Friday’s shooting is the fifth incident in the city this year.
On June 19, unidentified gunmen also riding-in-tandem killed a driver and hurt the Calbayog City treasurer’s wife in an ambush allegedly intended for the city official in Barangay Matobato.
Two separate shooting incidents also happened on June 10 and June 15 in barangays Carayman and Bante. Four died on the spot.
On May 15, Justiniano Belleza, the Association of Barangay Captain president and barangay chairman of Carayman, was shot in broad daylight after leaving his office in the Legislative Hall by also by riding-in-tandem gunmen. (Gerwin Babon/Sunnex)
