Aquino to check government projects in Eastern Visayas

PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III is set to arrive today in Eastern Visayas to meet local leaders and inspect government projects in the region.

The President is scheduled to visit Catarman in Northern Samar; Calbayog City in Samar; and Maasin City in Southern Leyte.

According to the Philippine Information Agency in the region, Aquino is scheduled to talk with local officials and other community leaders at the Catarman Freedom Park, then will proceed to Calbayog City around 11 a.m. to inaugurate the P58-million Maguino-o Port project at Barangay Maguino-o.


The Maguino-o port project started in 2011 under the Aquino administration and was completed in February 2013.

After the port inauguration, the President will proceed to the Calbayog Sports Complex at Barangay Capoocan where he will be speaking again before local leaders.

Aquino will also visit Maasin City in Southern Leyte around noon to also meet community leaders.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II will lead in the inauguration today of the new Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) building at Barangay Capoocan in Calbayog City. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
