Dagupan bangus goes global

DAGUPAN CITY -- Dagupan’s famous bangus (milk fish) is going global.

International cuisine masters will face off in a cooking showdown with Dagupan bangus as its main fare during the Bangus Festival.

The cook off dubbed “Bangusine” will feature international culinary arts on April 28.


Dagupan Mayor Belen Fernandez said various restaurants, schools, international students and the German, Indian and Japanese communities in the city have confirmed their participation to the event.

“The holding of Bangusine is timely as the country is now bracing for globalization which will start in 2015,” Fernandez said.

During the event, the participants will wear national costumes and shall decorate their booths in accordance with their own distinctive colors and tastes, a statement from the City Information Office said.

Fernandez said different ambassadors and consuls were invited to the Bangusine so that they can appreciate the Dagupan bangus and promote the product in their respective countries.

Celebrity Chef Boy Logro of “Kusina Master” was also invited to conduct a cooking demonstration. (PIA)
