THE morale in the Philippine Navy (PN) is very high with the arrival of its newest member, the BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PF-16), in Casiguran, Aurora, Friday morning.

"The morale of the PN is very high with the arrival of the BRP Ramon Alcaraz as she will greatly boosts the capabilities of our fleet," Navy spokesperson Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Fabic stressed.

He added that the BRP Ramon Alcaraz like her sister ship, BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PF-15), symbolizes concrete steps in the military's modernization program.

The Filipino frigate arrived around 8 a.m. off Casiguran, Aurora.

Around 30 fishing bancas gave the Filipino warship a sail past ceremony.

The vessel, which entered the Philippine area of responsibility early Thursday, will then head toward Bolinao, Pangasinan, where it is expected to get a similar welcome on Saturday.

President Benigno Aquino III will head government and military officials during welcoming ceremonies for the BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PF-16) upon its arrival at Subic Bay on Aug. 6. (PNA)
