The Man Who Saw Tomorrow

-A A +A

THE Bangsamoro problem, whatever its outcome, will be a national security issue in the coming years.

Consolidation of Muslim areas under this proposed sub-state will ultimately lead to a secessionist movement. Inevitably It is prophesied that Bangsmoro at a future time will declare its independence and decide to join Malaysia.

Like present day Russia did by grabbing a portion of Ukraine, Malaysia can annex the Bangsamoro to its federation. It is the unseen and lurking motive why its leaders are brokering the peace talks leading to the creation of a Moroland. Malaysia also has effective and actual possession and occupation of the Sabah island which is a Philippine territory. The country has an active claim on the island. But Malaysia ignores and undermines all government efforts to reclaim its patrimony. Yet Ph peace panels kowtow to it.

Vice President Binay leads all serious Presidential aspirants in the latest preference survey. I have yet to hear him state his position in the national discourse on the Bangsamoro issue. He is quiet on this.

Among the known aspirants for the Palace is Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano. He got only 3 percent rating against Binay’s 29.

Allan understands the Moro problem vis a viz national security better than the vice president and the rest of the aspirants.

Cayetano’s performance in the Senate hearing on the MILF’s role in the SAF massacre was outstanding. He has unmasked the true character of the Moro leaders who are the partners of our panellists in the Peace process. He exposed their duplicity and treacherous alliance with the other rebel faction, BIFF. He has documented circumstance and facts proving that the Moro leaders were protecting and hiding the wanted terrorists in their territory. He exposed the rebels training camp and their weapons factory.

It is consoling to know that many knowledgeable and discerning groups in Pampanga are supporting Sen. Alan for the presidency. These business leaders, certain elective officials, and concerned citizens are imbued with intelligence to distinguish between form and substance. He is not afraid of making enemies.

That Cayetano stays at the bottom of the rating game does not discourage them from inspiring and giving moral support to a deserv- ing aspirant.

Allan has been demonstrating his competence, probity, and integrity in all Senate hearings. He is not afraid to tangle with colleagues in sensitive issues, often winning the debates convincingly. His manners are polished and his language is clear and sharp. His logic was unassailable as Senator Enrile found out. He is great communicator. I see his great potential as a fearless patriot. A man who is not afraid to make enemies is expected to tell the truth.

If P-Noy and the Liberal Party are looking for a bet in lieu of the hapless Sec. Roxas, Cayetano is their guy. One public debate between him and Binay will turn the latter’s stardust to dandruff.

Theirs is the difference between corruption and integrity, between right and wrong, between ambition and patriotism. He is the “Presidentiable” who saw tomorrow in the Moro problem.
