AFTER 41 long years in government service, Mrs. Carmelita P. Sotto, schools supervisor of Mabalacat City, will bid goodbye on August 29, 2014.

It was in September 1973 when she started as a volunteer teacher at Mabiga Elementary School while awaiting the results of the licensure examination for teachers.

She passed the exams that same year, and as a licensed teacher, she started her long career, rising from the ranks and taking on various positions and assignments. She persevered and predictably, she began to be promoted, first as principal and then as a schools district supervisor, a position she held till her retirement which officially falls on September 1st.

Mely, as she is fondly called by family and those close to her, is a regimented, disciplined worker.

She reports for work regularly and diligently and comes on time. She is a disciplinarian to her students and children and has imbibed in them the traits of honesty and frugality.

She remains a devoted wife to City Councilor Eddie Sotto and is supportive to the latter's activities. One thing she laments though: she has not received a citation from the City Government for her long, dedicated service in government.

On September 2, she will be installed as second president of Mabalacat City College, vice Dr. Leonardo Canlas who has since focused his time at DepEd.

As the top honcho at the college, she intends to improve on the standards and quality of education of the college and produce more passers in national exams.

Above all, she plans to maintain an excellent rapport and professional relationship with the City Government officials, headed by City Mayor Marino "Boking" Morales whose brainchild is the Mabalacat City College.

On August 27, 2014, a Special Recruitment Activity will be conducted by Eye Quest Manpower Services.

It will conduct interviews for job applicants as production operators for Taiwan and domestic helpers for Hong Kong, Singapose and Malaysia.

Eye Quest is a licensed manpower agency and has an SRA authority from the POEA.
