Longer Visiting Hours

-A A +A

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

NATIONAL security and intelligence officials have sought my unbiased opinion on the need to extend the visiting hours during Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's birthday anniversary April 5.

I said that in the spirit of Lent, which central theme is forgiveness and reconciliation, the Sandiganbayan should allow longer visiting hours on the 67th natal celebration of the Kapampangan icon.

I imagined the following programme for the simple but fitting observance. For obvious reasons the names of some distinguished guests are not mentioned. The day’s activities and the expected guests will by no means pose a threat to national security I added.

8:00 a.m. - Concelebrated Mass by Pampango priests led by the popular Msgr. Jun Mercado and Rev. Fr. Rudy de Guzman, the Lubao parish choir assisting.

9:00 a.m. - Agape (breakfast) with local government officials of Pampanga and the Mass celebrants. Duman Sta. Rita courtesy of Mayor Yolly, tsokolate eh and assorted kakanin equivalent to the Chinese tikoy unity food will be served.

10:00 a.m. - Reception for former members of the PGMA cabinet, former PNP and AFP top brass who underwent the famous revolving door policy. A pledge of allegiance is optional but preferable.

11:00 a.m. - Meeting with PGMA’s legal counsel led by Atty. Ferdinand Topacio and Atty. Raul Lambino et al.

(A buffet table will be open at all times)

12:00-2:00 p.m. - Quality time for members of the Macapagal-Arroyo families and close kin, former Rep. Mikey presiding

3:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Women leaders of PGMA in the province and her friends in Capampangan media).

4:00 – 4:30 P.M. – Aeta delegations from the province organized and led by Porac senior Councilor/ Board Member Michael Tapang.

4:30 – 5:00 p.m. – Doctors with medical staff and therapists.

5:00- 6:00 p.m. – Social call of leading GMA appointees to power positions led by Energy Regulatory Commission chairman Zenaida Ducut, TIEZA GM Mark Lapid, ex-PhilHealth honcho Dr. Rey Aquino, ex-CHED chairman Dr. Emmanuel Angeles, ex-TLRC head Dennis Cunanan, et al.

6:00-7:00 p.m. – Mediation-Conciliation session with former Candaba mayor Jerry Pelayo and incumbent mayor Rene Maglanque who have been doing dirty laundry in public. Reminisce old times in a unity talk with former allies- ex-Congressman Dong Gonzales and former CSF mayor now Rep. Oca Rodriguez.

7:00 - 9:00 p.m. – Officials and party mates of PGMA in the Lakas-CMD led by presidential hopeful Sen. Bong Revilla and Rep. Martin Romualdez.

9:00 - 9-9:45 p.m. – Audience with former president Erap (who is seeking her help for his reported Presidential run, allegedly in exchange of her freedom by pardon), former president Fidel Ramos, Archbishop Oscar Cruz who all favour her transfer to house arrest.

9:45-10:00 p.m. – Surprise Visitor- (Congresswoman Imelda Marcos whose son Sen. Bongbong, another ‘Presidentiable’, needs Lakas CMD support, too.)

10:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. - Ramp Session with House minority leaders on strategies and action plans on the proposed Charter change and the 20l6 presidential polls. Security details at the Veterans Memorial Hospital ring the bell at 12:00 am to end the event. The Lakas congressmen may object motu propio and adjourn the session “sine die.”

Master of Ceremonies- Mr. Perry Pangan and Mr. Joe Taruc
