Marijuana & Basketbol

-A A +A

WHILE smoking pot in excess addles the mind and can bring premature amnesia (as in the case of forgetful lawmakers in the PDAF scam), the weed is also known to generate mental alacrity and creativeness.

Great works of art, literature, music, inventions, and even political philosophy had been achieved by their creators who had smoked weed.

As a stimulant, marijuana may help authorities in finding practical and acceptable solution to Philippine dilemma on American military presence in the country.

Pot smokers may find it inspiring and relaxing to engage in a private “joint” session before tackling the issue on continued rotational presence of US military in Filipino camps.

Given that cannabis can create miraculous effects on the faculties, it is expected that a justification and rationale may be discovered by both presidents for basing US forces here without contravening a Constitutional ban on permanent foreign military bases in the country.
Pres. Obama who confessed that he tried pot in his youth can teach P-Noy, a smoker, a thing or two on how to smoke pot without suffering a “bad trip.”

As marijuana smoking is still outlawed in the country, doing it for a paramount objective will exempt the two under the concept of “executive privilege.” The parties can do it at the “Bahay Pangarap” which is secure and private as can be, as well as a relevant setting for conjured dreams.

Researchers reported that both quantitative and qualitative analyses indicate pot smoking alleviates physical and mental problems including decision making and judgment.

It is within this circumstance that the psychological state of Messrs. Obama and Aquino may grapple the problem of rotational presence without making it appear as a basing right. All in bon hommie.

Assuming he makes a hit, with his stabilized mood President Noy may just simplify the procedure and declare the US forces as mobile special guests of the country. This is in keeping with the historic reputation of the nation for its hospitality.

Mr. Obama may convince P-Noy in between heavy puffs that the US presence here will help secure the country’s territorial rights against Chinese incursion. “Besides it is more fun in the Philippines,” he could say in hallucinogenic charm while explaining the US “pivotal shift” in South East Asia.

Marijuana, as an old cure for anxiety, will help make the Ph-US talks very pleasant and cordial. Its potential benefits to induce calm and peace of mind may result to successful negotiations and motivate both presidents to produce the long-awaited deal.

Mr. Obama’s scheduled visit in April was apparently timed to coincide with the many investigations at the Senate. With quite a number of senators deeply engrossed in their scam problems, little opposition and minimal protest against rotational presence is expected.

While pot for leaders may result in harmonious Ph-US relations, it has its side effect similar to the forgetfulness of senators involved in the pork barrel scam.

The suspect senators keep denying their knowledge, receipt of, and official involvement in the P10 billion PDAF plunder. This loss of memory is typical among addicts to cannabis and habitual users of “rugby”.

If people are pessimistic of the final outcome of the PDAF probe it is because the senators-probers started using basketball lingo in the Senate proceedings.

“A three-point shot, a buzz beater, and a winning shot,” that is how Blue Ribbon committee chair Sen. Guingona saw it.

“A slam dunk,” according to the Justice Secretary.

“A bulls’eye,” said Sen.Santiago who has made many senior citizens insecure- and also ashamed – of their “blatant impotence.”

Senator-suspect Jinggoy Estrada scored the probe as “an offensive foul.” A flagrant foul is more like it.

Senator-suspect Bong Revilla said some people faked his signature to the scam documents. Hindi naman kumagat sa kanyang “fake” ang publiko.

Volunteer witness Ruby Tuazon could not remember salient details of her money deals with Sen. Enrile, he can recall those with Jinggoy’s, that’s double dribbling.

The Queen of Scam who is watching this game of denial and lies in her detention cell, is the ultimate arbiter. She is holding the true score cards.

As the investigations of the P10-billion scandal comes down to the level of a game, expect more time-outs called as dilatory tactic, more whistle blows (from new blowers) and partisanship and ineptness from the officiating table.

That’s where we need Congressman Guiao who can always be relied to flash a dirty finger to the officials.
