Be Do Have

-A A +A

Saturday, January 18, 2014

Yes! The be-do-have principle is my latest wake-up call as I reach the doorstep of golden age (60 years) come November, 2014. Sailing away through the waves of a lifetime, I say “Aha” I got it. Self-mastery and opening the gateway to life’s mysteries are the gifts I now receive as I become a ‘senior-ager’!

Come, let us walk through the pathway of be-do-have.

Having means acquiring worldly possessions. Cars, houses, jewelries and oozing bank accounts are its treasure trove. My only question is this:

Are Bill Gates, Carlos Slim and Henry Sy who top the Forbes scroll of the richest persons in the world – are they the happiest persons on earth?

I do not know the Gates, Slims and Sys personally. So I cannot give my opinion on their index of joy.

However, what I have observed is this. I know that having material goods is a means to an end. They are excellent things to have and can give us comfort. However, they cannot fill my heart with the gushing waterfalls of happiness.

How about you, dear reader, what do you think?

Next, let us move on to Doing.

Doing is a vital component of our existence on earth. Working, exerting efforts and pushing ourselves in our daily activities are needed for our survival.
But beware! Workaholics and over stressed/frenzied people fall off from the cliffs of a healthy lifestyle. Thereafter, some of them swim on the coastline of bitterness, frustration and anxiety. What a sorry state.

Now, let us wade through the shore of another idea - BEING.
BEING is defined as a state of our mind, heart and spirit. It is immaterial. You and I cannot touch it, move it nor possess it. BEING is an intangible quality of our selves. Yet, for me and for the other thousands of blissful citizens, it is all that matters.

Essential, élan vital and energy flowing, our being is our wellspring of a full, wholesome and satisfying life.

At peace in the deepest core of my heart, I am contented.
In harmony with my thoughts and ideals, I am joyful. BEING is my essence and my intangible and unique self.

Today, you and I have a choice. To cherish your being or to perish in misery.

Crisscrossing the land of elation, let us zoom in another matter.
Every time I stride across the wonderfully blessed BANAL A BUNDUK, I feel inspired. Nestled on the slopes of Ayala, Magalang, Pampanga and embraced by green Mt. Arayat, it makes one open up to sacredness, sanctity and salvation. I realize I am home whenever I go there for a visit.

Concomitantly, communicating, chatting and conversing with the stewards of the Soroptomist International (S.I.) of Magalang expand my writer’s vision and mission. Par excellence leader Ms. Bing Feliciano, compassionate Ms. Becky Guiao, kind Ms. Fredeswinda Serrano and the present president of S.I. Magalang, dynamic Marivic DS Paras are inspirational leaders who move heaven and earth to uplift women empowerment. They and their outstanding members are one in also advocating for the completion of the Fourteen Stations of the Cross along the Bunduk.

Know what? You may want to start the 2014 year with an abundant and generous heartbeat. Please, let us assist them in their crusade in completing the fourteenth station. Do call Ms. Bing Feliciano, cellphone no. 09175212464, for your benevolent gift.

A thousand fold blessings to you and your family. Have a delightful Sunday. For all times, BE HAPPY!
