“January is an opportune time in our gardener’s life." -- Sophiam

EXTRAORDINARY times we have!

Opening up the leaves of the January calendar finds us in the journey of new beginnings. Nothingness turning into the cycle of completion. Like the barren grounds, empty slopes and fertile hills growing into vistas of majestic flowers, 2014 is a time for great possibility.

Voila! We feel the influence and power of 2014. Akin to the cycle of blossoming, January stirs our scent of adventure as the lively scents of Mother Gaia (Earth) fill our senses. Following the landscaper’s footsteps, we join her in sowing the seeds of daisies on the newly dug-up soil. Thereon, sprinkling the terra firma with nourishing waters, pruning a stem here and there, finally, sitting in the veranda awaiting for their full blossoming.

Yahoo! In a month’s time, the daisies burst forth in grand splendor. Popping into fuchsias, reds and yellow visual delights, they sweep our vista. Warming the cockles of the heart of her caretaker, they pose a refreshing spectacle to her eyes.

Alleluia to new beginnings in the month of January!

Throbbing with fine vibrations, we wander into the byway of curiosity. Perking up to the call of learning, we ask ourselves this question.

Why is the first month of the year called January?

Flipping open the pages of research, we stumble on this enlightening information. It was named after the Roman God Janus.

Imprinting his image on paper, Janus is shown with two faces looking in opposite directions. Doble cara. Double images. His energies spread into the world of duality, blending and élan vital (vital force).

Symbolically, one profile depicts on how we look back at the past.

Scanning at yesterday’s bliss, blessings and benevolence. At the same time, accepting past frailties, weaknesses and dilemmas.

In contrast, his reverse profile strikes our mind as the look of reinvigoration. Looking forward to a new direction. His eyes focuses on a new direction. A novel tapestry of 365 days waiting for our preferences, choices, and decisions. A.K.A. (also known as) as the God of doorway, beginnings and openings, Janus poses the twin faces of modern contradictions and lifestyles.

What a month gushing forth with the wellspring of imagination!

In Sum

What grandeur awaits us! We are the women and men called to greatness. Inspiring the days ahead, we call on our majestic ideas, noble words and good deeds to stir our being. Together, let us summon our heart of courage, voice of freedom and arms of loving in tending to the fires of hope.
