MAYAP a bayung banua keko ngan!

Celebrating the birth of 2014, we sing joyous renditions to greet the blessings and good tidings of the noble times. Chorusing through the centuries, our voices unite with our sisters and brothers from California, New York, Ohio and Canada.

Welcoming the new year, we resonate with this Scotland tune titled ‘Auld Lang Syne.’ Representing the ‘ good old times’, we welcome the booming carillon bells which ushered in 2014.

"Auld Lang Syne" is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788. Set to the tune of a traditional folk song (Roud # 6294). It is well known in many English-speaking countries and is often sung to celebrate the start of the New Year.

The song's Scots title may be translated into English literally as "old long since". "For auld lang syne", as it appears in the first line of the chorus, is loosely translated as “for the sake of old times.”

Come, together, let us raise our wine glasses in toasting and buzzing the new year with these lyrics:

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

Blessings all our readers.

To my Aunt Betty Tanglao. ‘A bountiful year po for you Tita.’ You are very kind. May health and wealth be yours always. Gracias for your care and compassion.

To my one and only Ninong Tang Herminio “Emy” Suaco who now stays in Quezon City, ‘Mano po.’ Salamat for the wonderful memories you bring to us. May happiness be yours for all times.

To our Holy Family Academy batch 1970. More power, success and heartening reunion. We are the best batch in my journal book.

What a great 2014!
