CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Governor Lilia Pineda on Friday thanked the National Government headed by President Benigno Aquino III for the billions of pesos in funds being poured in for Pampanga infrastructure and various projects.
Presiding over the Provincial Development Council meeting at Benigno Aquino Hall in Capitol, the governor also thanked Pampanga Representatives Oscar Rodriguez of the Third District, Joseller "Yeng" Guiao of the First District, Juan Pablo "Rimpy" Bondoc of the Fourth District, and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the Second District, who all helped facilitate funding for programs in their respective areas and the whole province.
"Pampanga is very blessed with the support coming from the national government headed by President Aquino. Katulad lang ng pondo para sa mga dike na mahigit na P1 billion. Our congressmen like Oca Rodriguez has given us the assurance na kahit pa galing iyun sa DAP [Disbursement Acceleration Program], tuloy-tuloy pa rin iyun. We thank the President for his continuous support to Pampanga," Pineda said.
She told Sun.Star Pampanga that funds coming from the national government greatly augment the province’s IRA (Internal Revenue Allotment) and local income.
"Malaki ang naitutulong ng suporta ng national government sa ating development projects kahit pa malaki ang ating IRA at local income tulad ng galing sa quarry collection na umabot na ng P1.3 billion. Subalit iyun ay may patutunguhan tulad n gating mga hospitals, iba pang infrastructure, iyung ating continuing programs at iba pang projects na kailangan ng pondong manggagaling sa Provincial Development Fund," said Governor Pineda.
The funds, she added, had been referred to Pampanga mayors, each with an allocation of P5 million to sustain projects not yet implemented by Capitol.
“There are hundreds of millions of pesos from the budget coming from the national government. I want to know from mayors what were created out of those and what services were doled out,” quipped the governor.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez said that some P1 billion per district has been allocated for the development of the province, while Guiao disclosed that some P1.2 billion was approved by President Aquino in the 2015 budget for the Clark Terminal, which he said could possibly reach P7 billion. (JTD)
