CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- Chief Superintendent Raul Petrasanta, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) director, conducted on Friday a disaster preparedness audit of all units particularly Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel involved in search and rescue operations.

Petrasantra said the disaster preparedness audit was a “showdown inspection” where different kinds of rescue gear and other equipment have been checked, placed on standby alert and made ready to be deployed in any given time and situation.

He said the audit aims to assess and evaluate the capability and capacity of the various sub-task groups of the PNP Disaster Incident Management Task Group in responding to calls during disasters and calamities.

Petrasanta gave emphasis on the importance of being prepared and that PRO3 is the first among the other police regional offices to conduct this activity following the Annual Disaster Preparedness Audit of the National Headquarters.

“Our Disaster Preparedness Audit is vital as it aims to develop resilience to each one of us since this will measure our level of compliance in terms of disaster preparedness and accounts our disaster capabilities,” he said.

“Recognizes the need to ensure an integrated approach to disaster risk reduction and management and as such we have been working alongside the Office of the Civil Defense and the Regional Disaster Risk Management Council to create a more streamlined and unified approach to disaster relief efforts and disaster risk reduction education,” Petrasanta said.

“The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management must continue to be a paramount consideration in every aspect of our lives, regardless of our status in society or position in government,” he added.

“I must say that PRO3 is committed to continue working with partner agencies and stakeholders to ensure that Central Luzon will remain a safer place to live, work and do business with,” Petrasanta said.

Office of Civil Defense III Assistant Regional Director Edgar Nigel Lontoc attended during the activity and participated in the inspection and audit.

Petrasanta said a series of disaster preparedness audits will be conducted by PRO-3 in the coming days especially now that the rainy season has set in.
