BACOLOR -- A car crash along the Jose Abad Santos Avenue (Jasa) in this town Saturday afternoon killed five people.

Jesus Icban, 51; his wife Justine; their son Jan Clarence; Norma Layug, and Junnel Icban died when a trailer truck crushed their car along the said road at Sitio Balsik in Barangay Cabalantian.

The sixth member of the family, Jenel, 3, miraculously survived the vehicular mishap.

Police failed to establish the exact residence of the fatalities but their car was moving toward the City of San Fernando before the accident happened.

Driver Jeffrey Opamin of Navotas City said his truck with license plate CVM 286 swerved into the opposite lane (west bound) when he tried to stop to avoid another vehicle that overtook him.

The victims were riding a Toyota Corolla car with license plate (UPS-974).

Because of the impact, a passenger jeepney rammed the head of the truck and several passengers sustained minor injuries.

Police said Opamin is under the custody of the Bacolor Police. Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and multiple physical injuries and damage to properties were filed against him. (Ric Sapnu)
