Saturday, July 19, 2014
ANGELES CITY -- Holy Angel University will launch the book "Acceptance and Abandonment: Transforming Daily Life," on August 9, at the University's Café Juan.
The book, subtitled "Cion Nepomuceno: Her Legacy of Faith, Love and Joy," is a collection of Nepomuceno’s essays, talks, and correspondence over the years which reveal her deep spirituality and may serve as a guide for readers’ spiritual enrichment.
Asuncion "Cion" Nepomuceno was instrumental in the establishment of the women’s branch of the Opus Dei in San Francisco in 1978, which is the first in the US west of Chicago. She was married to Javier Nepomuceno, eldest son of Don Juan Nepomuceno, founder of Holy Angel University. She died in 2010.
The book was compiled by Cion Nepomuceno's friend Genevieve Berry and edited by Patricia Nepomuceno-Sutter.
The friends and family of Javier and Cion Nepomuceno, as well as the Opus Dei supernumeraries in Angeles City, are helping the University in the book launch.
A Holy Mass will be held at the University's Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angel at four o'clock in the afternoon, followed by reception and short program at the Café Juan. August 9 is the birth anniversary of Cion Nepomuceno.
