ANGELES CITY -- With crimes of all sorts persisting in the city as the 2015 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit nears, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan is going on a full scale battle against criminality.
"I am hands on in the fight versus crime. All crimes!" exclaimed Pamintuan in a message to Sun.Star Pampanga.
He said that over the weekend, he requested the City's Legal Office to issue a warrant of arrest for Koreans involved in illegal cyber gambling, right in front of his house in Villa Angelina here.
"Patawag si Atty. Fabros at papuntahan siguro dito for the arrest of Koreans violating cyber gambling and human trafficking," Pamintuan said.
He added that he will do more "sleuthing" in the coming days.
"In front of my house, two months akong nag-sleuthing. Meron pang isang bahay. Isusunod ko iyun," Pamintuan said.
The mayor said crimes have been affecting not only the city but the whole of the province, that is why he is waging an all-out war against criminals.
"We have so many tourists, students, businessmen. It's [Angeles City] the center of everything here in Pampanga and the whole of Central Luzon. Pampanga not spared of crimes, too. But we are on top of things and we are doing everything we can," Pamintuan said.
As to road and other construction projects connected to the Apec meet, Pamintuan said, "I am sure that if the contractor could not finish the job, the DPWH [Department of Public Works and Highways] will." (JTD)
