ANGELES CITY – "I am urging our students to be activists. That is, activists for justice and the rule of law, for righteousness, for our environment and for the liberation of our people from poverty, squalor and hunger."

So said Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan recently as he encouraged students from the City College of Angeles (CCA) to become activists of justice and development, during the General Assembly and Induction of Student Council Officers for Academic Year 2014-2015 at the institution's campus in Barangay Pampang.

"I hope the Student Council will actively involve themselves in leading the students not only in school undertakings but also in endeavors that advance not only our city but the people and our country as a whole," Pamintuan said.

In 2011, the CCA only had three courses, which was eventually expanded to eight bachelor degrees courses, plus an associate degree course this school year.

The CCA now offers Bachelor of Science in Information System, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Tourism, Bachelor of Physical Education Major in School P.E, Bachelor or Technical Teacher Education, Major in Food and Service Management; Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology (BSAct) and Bachelor of Library and Information Science.

CCA’s initial enrollment of 300 students has grown to 1,551, with 197 of them scholars.

The CCA has also opened its classrooms for persons with disabilities who are currently enrolled under the Bachelor of Library and Information Science program this school year.

“This kind of growth manifests the trust that the people have afforded the local government and the college in bringing quality education to the poor,” Pamintuan said.
