CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Pampanga First District Representative Joseller "Yeng" Guiao had asked President Benigno Aquino III to include Clark in his State of the Nation Address (Sona) this month.

Guiao's request was contained in a letter he sent to the President last March 14 after he delivered his first privilege speech in the House of Representatives on January 28.

"We are hoping and requesting that the President include in his Sona a brief pronouncement regarding the role of Clark in national development," he said.

Guiao belongs to the President's ruling Liberal Party.

Guiao said that the President's statement of support for Clark will send a clear and strong signal that will "surely unlock its full potential, ultimately allowing Clark to be a real catalyst of growth and development in Central Luzon and the rest of the country."

President Aquino will deliver his fourth SONA on July 28.

"I am hopeful that Clark's development will be a lasting legacy that the President will be able to leave for the people of Central Luzon and the whole country," the solon said.

The full development of Clark, particularly Clark International Airport, has been a priority advocacy of Guiao as congressman. He has filed a bill for the conversion of the Clark Freeport into an Authority and has filed a resolution for the construction of a high-speed railway between Clark and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to fast-track the development of the Clark airport as a premier gateway.

The President, in his visit to Clark last week during the anniversary of the Philippine Air Force, disclosed that the government is still resolving issues involving the North Railway project. (NCS)
