CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Government of Pampanga has turned over a service vehicle to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in a ceremony held at Travellers Hotel in Subic Bay recently.
DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman, together with DSWD Central Luzon director Adelina Apostol, received the truck from Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda.
The truck will be used in the evacuation of flood victims and relief operation during the rainy season, according to the DSWD Region 3 office.
Pineda said the distribution of emergency vehicles is in line with the Provincial Government's disaster preparedness program.
The governor also talked about the proposed relocation of residents in San Juan Ba’o Arayat to Telepayong Resettlement to avoid untoward incidents like the landslide that happened in 2009, claiming the lives of 12 residents.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), has warned the people residing at the foot of Mount Arayat that such incident may happen again especially during heavy rains.
