CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Officials of Pampanga headed by Governor Lilia Pineda and the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental led by Governor Roel Ragay Degamo recently signed an agreement for the implementation of Integrated Taxation Management System or iTax.

A report from the Provincial Information Office said that Governor Pineda and other officials of Pampanga flew to Dumaguete City last week to forge the agreement, which stipulates that under Negros Oriental Tax Ordinance 10, series of 2012 approved by Governor Degamo, Negros Oriental will extend the use of their iTax program to the Provincial Government of Pampanga until December 31 of this year.

The contract also states that the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental shall provide Pampanga the iTax system for free with just an annual maintenance fee and shall provide the latter with trainings for the IT personnel and end-users.

An iTax technical expert shall also be provided by Negros Oriental to assist Pampanga with the taxation system. In return, the provincial Government of Pampanga shall provide the necessary hardware for the use of the iTax program.

Pampanga shall cover the transportation, accommodation, meals and other expenses of the Negros Oriental representatives during the conduct of trainings and assistance, aside from the payment of the annual maintenance fees as mentioned in the contract.

This agreement between the two province aims to improve the tax assessment and collection and increase the revenues of the local government units particularly in real property tax, business tax and other local fees including non-tax revenues.

Present in the MOA signing were Pampanga Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, Board Members Cris Garbo, Cherry Manalo, Anthony Torres, Arthur Salalila, Teddy Tumang, Rosve Henson, Ferdinand Labung, Jun Dimson, Ric Yabut, Nestor Tolentino, PML president and Apalit Mayor Jun Tetangco and Provincial Legal Officer Cecil Andin.
