BACOLOR -- Police arrested the number nine most wanted person in Pampanga while in the act of robbing residents in Barangay Cabetican here.
Bacolor chief of police Chief Inspector Danilo Gallano on Friday said the suspect was identified initially as Romnik Mananasala, 25, a resident of Agaw Lupa, Kulis, Dinalupihan, Bataan, but was later confirmed as Jeffrey Santiago, a resident of Barangay Pandaguirig, Floridablanca, who has a string of pending criminal charges. He said Santiago tried to hide his identity with a false name.
Gallano said that Santiago also the number nine most wanted in Floridablanca town. Confiscated from the suspect were a Blackberry Z10 and Nokia 7500 cellphone and a wallet containing P5,210.
Police later found out that the suspect robbed another victim the same day just before he got busted when another complainant proceeded to the office Bacolor municipal police station and identified the confiscated pieces of evidence as his personal belongings, said Gallano.
He said that Santiago has a pending warrant of arrest for frustrated murder issued by Judge Maria Concepcion Yalung, presiding judge of RTC branch 53, Guagua, Pampanga with a recommended bail of P200,000.
The suspect also has another case for robbery with homicide pending at the Regional Trial Court Branch 51, Guagua, Pampanga with no bail recommended.
Senior Superintendent Malon Madrid, officer-in-charge of the Pampanga police provincial office, commended Bacolor police for their efforts.
Mayor Jomar Hizon also lauded the vigilance of the local police led by Gallano and the barangay police led by Barangay Chairman Peter Mercado of Cabetican.
"Dito natin makikita ang pagtutulungan ng mga police, barangay officials at mga tao ng Bacolor para sugpuin ang mga masasamang elemento sa ating bayan," Hizon said. (Ric Sapnu and Chris Navarro)
