CAMP OLIVAS -- A 50-year-old man was gunned down by eight unidentified armed men in Barangay Colgante, Apalit town, recently.

In a belated report here, Superintendent Hommer Penecilla identified the victim as Marinao Luartes, 50, a resident of Highview Hills Subdivision in Barangay Colgante.

The victim was in his daughter's apartment when the suspects armed with short and long firearms barged in and without apparent reason shot him several times in the body, Penecilla said.

The suspects were all wearing bonnets and long sleeved shirts when they forcibly entered the apartment, he said.

The suspects then fled towards Calumpit, Bulacan on board their getaway motorcycles.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital but expired while undergoing treatment.

Penecilla said that a police team is still conducting an investigation on the motive behind the killing of Luartes. (Ric Sapnu)
