GUAGUA -— Doctors, nurses and other personnel of the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital have undergone their final earthquake and fire drill for this year conducted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on Tuesday.

"Their seminar and training went very well and the evaluators gave their performance a 9 out of 10 rating so we are confident that they know what to do when disaster come," said Antonio Dungo, PDRRMO Disaster Operations Officer.

According to Dungo, PDRRMO makes sure that every personnel of any government or private establishments, schools, hospitals and even malls are equipped with knowledge about disaster preparedness.

"Disasters and other unfortunate events such as fires are the things we cannot predict. That is why it is very important that the people know what to do during disasters to avoid severe injuries and casualties," Dungo added.

The doctors, nurses and personnel of the provincial hospital went through a series of seminars about earthquake and fire response including first aid, handling of victims and rescue operations.

"After an earthquake, they cannot expect immediate response from other agencies so it is important that they know how to attend to their own needs in cases of emergencies," said Rowel Tablante, PDRRM Officer.

Other district hospitals that completed the series of earthquake and fire training and drills are the Ricardo P. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Bulaon, San Luis District Hospital, Bacolor District Hospital and Mabalacat District Hospital.
