CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Various communities here now have access to safe potable drinking water through the help of two Rotary clubs and this city's Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin.

Lazatin said that the water pumps were made possible through the help of the Rotary Club of Makati South through their "Water for Life and Health Project."

The project aims to provide potable water source to depressed communities and areas where an available potable water source is not readily available. The program also looks into the health needs of target communities through social programs and medical missions among others.

Lazatin said that he is very thankful for the support of the Rotary clubs to the City of San Fernando. He said that while the city is highly urbanized and has become progressive in the past years, certain communities still lack available water source.

"Communities who cannot afford of availing themselves with a water supply should be helped in terms of providing one for the community. It is a reality that even now there are communities that are in need of more sources of potable water," Lazatin said.

Under the program, potable water pumps are set up in various areas. The depth of each pump's tube depends on the water source. Lazatin said that they have given some 25 sites in the whole city their access to a potable water source through the said program.

Lazatin added that they are set to install three more potable water pumps in Barangay Pandaras this week. All the water pumps are to be inspected by members and officers of the Rotary clubs.
