ANGELES CITY -- This city's Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan on Wednesday assured that the City Government is working double time with other government agencies to finish all development and beautification works in this city in time for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2015.

Pamintuan said that the international leaders' forum set in 2015 has brought in development works here that would not just benefit the upcoming event but also the economic and tourism potentials of the city.

The mayor said that they are completely monitoring the works on the Pandan-Magalang road expansion, which is pegged at P60 million. He added that he is concerned with the slow phase of the construction and have called the attention of the Department of Public Works and Highways regional office.

The widening works along the business district in Balibago is also being monitored to comply with deadline schedules. Pamintuan said that the foot bridge in front of a computer school in the area is also underway.

"All these developments are just in time for APEC. The economic, political and tourism value of this event could not be easily underscored. Plus the fact that the people of Angeles City will benefit from all these is a welcome development," Pamintuan added.

Pamintuan also bared that the P8.6 million Phase 1 development for the frontage of the Holy Rosary Parish and the planed Plaza Anghel would be completed by the end of the month and would be accented by another P10 million Phase 2 fund that will extend the development works on the city's historical district.

"The tourism program will not work unless we put things in order. That is cleaning up and fixing eyesores and making support facilities available," Pamintuan said, adding that the city will also be redeveloping the old plaza area near San Nicolas Public Market.
