CDC exec discovers hand grenade in car-A A +A

CAMP OLIVAS -- An assistant manager of the Estates Reservation and Recovery Department of the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) on Friday discovered a hand grenade inside his car in Barangay Sta. Trinidad, Angeles City.
In a report here, Marcial Caniones, 48, a resident of the said barangay, said he was about to start his car which was parked inside their carport when he noticed "something" in the flooring of his vehicle.
Upon checking, he was surprised that the said "piece" was a hand grenade, said Senior Superintendent Eden Ugale, Angeles City police director.
He said the victim for feared for his life and asked for help from his co-employees in his department at the CDC and requested them to fetch him.
One of his co-employees, Jeff Guiwan, examined the piece which was confirmed to be a live fragmentation hand grenade, said Ugale.
Caniones told police investigators that prior to the incident, he received a text message in the morning stating "BOOM."
Ugale said that police team is still conducting an investigation on the alleged text message received by the victim.
He said that the hand grenade was turned over to the Angeles City police Explosive Ordinance Division.
