CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Pampanga Police launched "Operation Plan Summer Vacation 3" to ensure safety and maintain peace and order in the province following the influx of thousands of Holy Week tourists, pilgrims and summer vacationers.
During the command conference called by Governor Lilia Pineda at the Capitol on Tuesday, Acting Provincial Police Director Marlon Madrid said hundreds of uniformed of uniformed and undercover operatives will be deployed to Pampanga’s churches, hotels, resorts, crucifixion and pilgrimage sites.
“There will be heightened police visibility in areas like the crucifixion sites in the City of San Fernando where operatives will be deployed. We also have established hundreds of police assistance desks across Pampanga to ensure the security and safety of people who will observe and spend Holy Week in Pampanga,” Madrid said.
He added that mobile patrols will conduct 24-hour rounds to avert crimes and untoward incidents.
“We also have and are disseminating leaflets and flyers regarding Oplan Sumvac 3 and tips for personal safety like discouraging the carrying of valuables, expensive gadgets and jewelry and huge amounts of cash,” Madrid said.
Pineda urged the Pampanga Police to be on alert and be vigilant against unscrupulous elements who will take advantage of the Holy Week.
“Kailangan alert kayo and on call 24 hours. Kailangan nating pangalagaan hindi lang ang mga Kapampangan kundi pati na rin ang mga turista at bisitang dumadating sa probinsiya sa panahong kagaya ng Semana Santa,” she said.
The governor said that Capitol will support Oplan Sumvac 3 with additional logistics like the newly created emergency response unit.
