Ex-army soldier killed in Nueva Ecija

CAMP OLIVAS -- A former soldier was shot dead by unidentified armed men along Barangay Minabuyok, Talavera, Nueva Ecija, Friday night.

In a report here, Senior Superintendent Crizaldo Nieves, Nueva Ecija police provincial director, identified the victim as Carolito Ricohermoso, 47, a former member of the Philippine Army and a resident of the said barangay.

Police said that the victim went to harvest palay at the farm of Boyet Vinculado and while on his way along the National Irrigation Administration dike road, the suspects suddenly appeared and shot him several times.


Nieves said the victim died on the sport due to severe gunshot wounds in the body.

Responding policemen recovered two fired cartridge cases from a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

Nieves ordered the Talavera police chief to conduct a hot pursuit operation and for possible identification and arrest of the suspects.

He said Talavera police are still investigating the motive behind the killing of the former army soldier. (Ric Sapnu)
