CLARK FREEPORT -- A top official of the Poland Chamber of Tourism expressed optimism that Philippines will attract Polish tourist as the agency is exploring possibilities to establish a linkage to promote tourism in both countries.

Pawel Niewiadomski, president of the Polish Chamber of Tourism, said he was impressed by the warm reception and hospitality of Filipinos.

"This is the first ever to visit your country, we are looking the possibilities of establishing a linkage in the promotion of tourism in Poland and Philippines," Niewiadomski said.

Niewiadomski, together with delegations from the Polish Chamber of Tourism, arrived in Clark International Airport via Qatar Airways from Doha Friday morning. They were met by Philippine Ambassador to Poland Patricia Ann Paez.

Paez said the Polish tourism officials’ visit was the first time since the opening of the Philippine Embassy in Poland in 2009.

"This is an opportunity for the Philippines to promote our tourism as well as to visit also tourism in Poland," she said.

Paez added that Qatar Airways has established a direct flight to Warsaw in Manila and this will attract more tourists to visit the country.

According to her, tourism arrivals in Poland had doubled for the past five years.

Paez said Poland officials will visit Vigan, Boracay and Manila during their five day familiarization tour in the country.

Niewiadomski was accompanied by Grzegorz Chmielewski, Kryztof Steiman, Marcin Sado, Anna Agnieszka Piotrowska, Anna Turak-Supinska and Martyna Harland.

Paez also said that a "Business to Business" meeting between the Polish delegation and Philippine Travel Agencies will be held on March 18.

This is expected to promote Philippines as a travel destination for Poland nationals.

The Familiarization Tour is a collaboration of the Embassy of the Philippines in Warsaw, and the Department of Tourism.
