CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- More survivors of the recent onslaught of Super Typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas are set to receive assistance from the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PamCham).

This developed as president Jim Jimenez and director Sonia Soto, also CLTV 36 president and general manager, presented for board deliberation projects for the utilization of the remaining P1,741,120.71 from the total P2,640,477.91 raised in the five-day "Lingap ng Central Luzon Para sa mga Biktima ng Bagyong Yolanda" telethon that ran from November 11 to 16 last year.

It will be recalled that the initial recipients of the relief operations of the Yolanda telethon were the victims in Coron, Palawan; Tacloban, Leyte; and Cebu.

"The remaining funds are earmarked for rehabilitation projects and programs for the victims and their families," PamCham said in a statement.

Potential rehabilitation project recipients are the families in Daanbantayan, Cebu, who are in need of motorized boats to replace those that were destroyed by the super typhoon.

The boats are used for fishing and seaweed harvesting which the community intends to further process into carageenan and danggit that will add value and augment the families’ income and sustain the community’s livelihood.

It could be recalled that the group conducted relief operations in Daanbantayan, where super typhoon Yolanda made its third landfall last November 8 and affected some 74,000 residents from its 20 barangays.

There, the group which traveled more than four hours from Cebu City distributed 1,945 family relief packs.
