ANGELES CITY -- The City Government here issued a warning Thursday to businessmen and institutions to be aware of unscrupulous solicitors who use the name of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan in soliciting money and even favors.
Deputy City Information Officer Deo Sambilay told Sun.Star Pampanga that they have been receiving reports from businessmen and professionals here on people using the name of the city mayor to solicit funds.
He clarified that Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan is not behind any such activity in the city.
"We have issued an advisory to our leaders in the various barangays and to businessmen here to coordinate with us in case such people would go to them for solicitations," Sambilay said, adding that such activities should be reported to the City Mayor's office or to the local police.
Sambilay also reminded the public to be wary of public solicitations in general. Presidential Decree 1564, or the Solicitation Permit Law, gives the Department of Social Welfare and Development the authority to issue permits for solicitations meant for charitable purposes like welfare programs and fundraising events.
This means that people, groups, and organizations should abide by the Solicitation Permit Law before giving out solicitations.
