CAMP OLIVAS -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Central Visayas will create an Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force and Wildlife Law Enforcement Manual of Operations.

This was tackled on Friday by the Regional Law Enforcement and Coordinating Committee-3 (RLECC3) during its first meeting this year held at the Conference Room of Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3).

Chief Superintendent Raul Petrasanta, PRO3 director, who also chairs the RLECC3, said that the purpose of the committee is to address various law enforcement and related issues affecting Central Luzon.

It was discussed that the DENR will create Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force to monitor and curb illegal cutting of trees in mountainous areas in the region, Petrasanta said.

He said that the anti-illegal logging task force will be formed first at the provincial level.

During the meeting, the Barangay Drug Clearing Operations that will be conducted by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central headed by Director Jeoffrey Tacio was also brought up.

In the RLECC3 meeting were regional directors and representatives of the Department of Interior and Local Government, National Police Commission, National Intelligence Commission Administration, PDEA, Department of Justice, Department of Health, DENR and other law enforcement agencies.

“Let us remain united in pursuing our shared objectives to effectively enforce the law and keep the peace in our communities. Ginagawa namin sa PNP ang lahat ng aming makakaya tungo sa maayos at masigasig na pagpapatupad ng batas. Ngunit ang kapulisan ay magiging matagumpay lamang sa tulong ng iba’t-ibang sektor ng lipunan,” Petrasanta said.

He said that with the different RLECC sub-committees contributing their ideas, resources and efforts together, a formidable force against crime and lawlessness will be created in the region. (Ric Sapnu)
